Physical Body: What’s an oblique?

Funny word?  Yes.  On your body?  Yes.  Can you make it work for you?  Yes.  Do we all have them? Yes.

Obliques are one of the 3 main muscles that make up your abdominal area.  The remaining two are your rectus abdominis and tranverse abdominis.  All these muscle groups have their own function, strength and purpose in the abdominal area.  Obliques are also known as rotators or paraspinal side muscles.  They help to stabilize the spine- one reason it is important for us to condition these muscles.
